MARIJUANA

There is a current debate among law enforcement, medical researchers and drugs users about the addictive nature of marijuana. All three sides have their own opinions about whether or not marijuana is technically an addictive drug and how it should be treated from both a criminal and treatment perspective. Yet as this discussion grows more heated, there is no denying that marijuana has helped knock countless lives off course. Whichever side of the argument an individual may fall on, the need to provide marijuana abuse help to those in need is greater than ever. Understanding the types of treatment available is a key factor in making sure the individual gets the help she needs.

What are the Different Types of Marijuana Abuse Treatment?

There are a number of different treatment options available to those men and women who are abusing marijuana and unable to stop despite an understanding of the damage it is causing. The most common types of drug abuse treatment are:

Residential- where the individual who is abusing marijuana moves into a treatment facility full time so that they may focus solely on their recovery.

Outpatient- individuals attend treatment during the day, but then return home in the evening. Outpatient care is an ideal choice for those with less serious marijuana abuse issues, or who must maintain a presence at work or school during treatment.

Holistic- incorporates wellness programs such as yoga and meditation into the main treatment plan. Holistic drug rehab helps strengthen the mind, body and spirit of the individual.

Women- gender-specific treatment for marijuana abuse that focuses on the reasons why women develop drug addictions, including co-dependency, self-image issues and coping with physical or sexual abuse.
